Getting distracted while reading an article about performance in prisons (AKA the thug life).
This version of Lover’s Spit on Bee Hives is so much better than on You Forgot It In People (and I love the shit out of that album).
It’s funny and sad that the video people in 1988 had no idea what the fuck was happening in the song so they wouldn’t cut to the right person.
I think I’m just going to update with the music I’ve been listening to lately…
For now, get back in the swing of things, hollllllllahhhdayz.
Awhile ago, I posted an extensive playlist of the songs that give me the chills. This all involved music videos and such. It was very overwhelming. Since then, I have made many changes and added a shitload of new songs. So, here’s the playlist I wrote before my previous hard drive crashed (YAY!).
If you like a couple of these songs, I HIGHLY recommend checking out the other artists. They slightly vary in genre, but they’re all amazing. Unfortunately, all of my older music and blues isn’t on the playlist yet… and I can only choose one Leadbelly song (*gasp*).
Also, I’d like to add a note: I have not blogged any new posts… at all. This will, unfortunately, become more common. I have just entered my Masters program which involves an extensive amount more work thus less free time. I’m still going to try my hardest and hopefully use writing this to help warm me up for some more extensive writing.
If anything, here’s a photo of me in my new office with my one decoration:
I have completed my second writing challenge. It was meant to be in 30 days, but that whole school thing sort of took priority.
Anyway, I feel like this:

There are some great tunes in that thingy thar.
I am eagerly awaiting The Knife’s new album. Apparently it’s supposed to come out this year. It’s been 6 years since they’re last album. Please oh please.
I have absolutely no idea what music I was listening to last year. But, I can make some educated guesses. Really, my music taste doesn’t change, it just evolves. I tack on new artist after new artist onto my depot of music. It’s a lot to keep organized, but I can do it.
The Knife is one of those phenomenal bands that challenges you. They kind of freak you out, but you still enjoy every moment of it. Well, I guess I’m using the general “you”… I can’t really assume that you like them because many people don’t… BUT YOU SHOULD.
So, my guess is that I was listening to them this time last year.
In addition, I’m pretty sure I was listening to these people:

My dad likes Queen. I don’t really thinking they were the defining music of my childhood, but this song (along with “YMCA”) is the one I remember the most. It’s pretty hilarious. It’s also wildly inventive upon listening to it again. Oh fondness…
And here’s Ryan Gosling dancing to this song (or at least me imagining it):
Oh my gosh! This is the second to last SONG CHALLENGE! See all of the others by following the link.
If you know me well (as you all should!), then you would know about my love/hate relationship with Death Cab for Cutie. I have seen them 2 or 3 times in concert, and they were godawful. Super egotistical dicks. They just ran around on stage acting like they were playing the most badass music ever… but, fuck, it’s Death Cab for Cutie. With Ben Gibbard’s voice, you can’t really rock out. Therefore, I believe I walked out on one of their concerts because it was just so boring.
On the other hand, I think their albums range from okay to pretty good. There’s a major difference to when they sound clean and compact on album and how ridiculous they sound live.
Therefore, I’m always in a dilemma on whether or not I like them. Therefore, I sometimes feel guilty while listening to their albums.
Song challenge!? SONG CHALLENGE??? SONG CHALLENGE! Only two more to go!
