Falling: an Experimental Web Comic

17 Jan

This is a web comic equivalent to being over three feet long while touching on three simultaneous stories.  The primary story follows a young man as he purposely jumps into a well only to discover that he won’t stop falling.  Branching off of that story, we follow both a young caterpillar becoming a butterfly and a super intelligent flamingo granted the dangerous gift of a magical pencil.  The comic took roughly 5 and a half hours to complete.

Inspiration of the format of this comic came from Rebecca Dart’s “Rabbithead” printed in The Best American Comics of 2006.  Unlike her impressive 25 page comic, mine runs vertically and does not have the same massive scale that her’s does.  Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy the experiment because I’m quite proud of it.

I believe if you right-click on the original image and then go to “view image,” you can see the full comic in its original size.

Derivatization and reintegration. Nice. I like the use of knowledge—book-learning here—as a catalyst for rupture. Always.
